NIRS-DCS Probes

Flexible Probes

This flexible NIRS-DCS combination probe has DCS detectors at 5 mm, 15 mm, 20 mm, and 25 mm and NIRS detectors at 15 mm, 20 mm, 25 mm, and 30 mm. The main probe is quite flexible which allows for a better fit against a patient; but when more accuracy and rigidity is needed it can be inserted into the case to prevent bending.

Rigid Probes

This rigid NIRS-DCS probe has a design very similar to the rigid DCS only probes. This has 2 coaxial sources, the DCS source fiber runs inside the NIRS source fiber bundle. There are 4 DCS detectors at separations of 5 mm, 15 mm, 20 mm, and 25 mm; and 4 NIRS detectors at 15 mm, 20 mm, 25 mm, and 30 mm. Similar to the source fibers, the DCS detectors run inside the NIRS bundle all terminating at the prism. With these however, we include several fibers to each DCS detector; generally adding more fibers the greater the separation is. In this case, we have 2 DCS fibers each at 5 mm and 15 mm, and 4 DCS fibers each at 20 mm and 25 mm. This allows for more light absorption if necessary and fiber redundancy if anything breaks.
